Friday Forums is a concept in information sharing and community communication for gamers, but specifically those that either already do, or want to be a GM, DM Referee or have some sort of central role in a table top RPG. They are the people who make or shape the world for the group, and do a LOT of work. This series is designed for members of the gaming community can come, have an open discussion and share ideas as GMs etc with others.
How Does It Work?
All sessions are run in Discord, all sessions start at 7pm on a Friday night, AEST (GMT +10) on the last Friday of every month.
If you want to register and come along great, register on this site, or through the registration form on the events information pages. If not, feel free to just come along, however, initially sessions will be capped at 25 people plus myself. If you have not registered and show up, but members who have registered show, then you will have to head out and book for another session.
Each session will be run like an organised event in some other venues, it will adhere to some easy rules to make the sessions run smoothly. If I think a topic is dead, or arguments break out, then the topic closes. At the end of the night things will wrap up, and as soon as possible the audio clip will be uploaded for everyone to download.
Topics & Structure
The first few sessions will be made up of topics already thought about, but I am hoping that those who want to join in will also contribute topics for the sessions them selves.
Topics will be AS generic as possible, but some will be very specific, or uses one system as a reference to help with the point being made, for the premise of the discussion. Each session will start with any quick updates from a previous session, as a catch-up on topics that need an update to them. Four (4) topics will then be on the agenda, each given 10 minutes to discuss. That should be ample, and leave about 10 to 15 minutes at the end for anyone to ask a question, and see if as a collective we can give some help.
Something you should know: THERE ARE NO WRONG ANSWERS
Everyone has their own experience, and everyone can and do do what they want in the games they run for their own reasons. There should be NO arguing over which DM/GM etc was right over the others. They are ALL just ideas for everyone to think about. This is about communication and sharing, not bragging boasting or trying to force people to play your way.
Members of the site, can nominate topics for the Forums using the form at the very bottom of this page.
BTW: disrupting and being a dick are great reasons for me to ask someone on the waiting list if they want to come and join in.
